Welcome to the Committee on General Scholarships

The Committee on General Scholarships administers special financial aid, scholarship, and fellowship programs that support Harvard University graduate and undergraduate students. We are one possible source of financial assistance at Harvard.

Scholarship - Online Education Sites

The financial aid offices at Harvard’s eleven individual schools administer most of the financial aid opportunities available for Harvard students. Therefore, all students should pursue financial aid options directly through the school in which they plan to be enrolled.

The Committee on General Scholarships administers a broad range of programs and the eligibility requirements and application procedures vary widely. Please begin by choosing an area of interest, right. We hope this site will help you identify opportunities and we welcome your questions about our programs.

We list awards for study all over the world. Here are some tips on how to get started:

1. Search – To start your search for scholarships, click on “Search for Scholarships” You can search by geographic location, by subject of study, by student origin, or by award name.
2. Create Account/Sign In – If you find an award you are interested in, click on it. You will be prompted to sign in to your account, or to create a new account. To create an account, simply submit an email and a password. You can save awards that you are interested in, and access you saved awards the next time you come back to the site.

3. Apply for Award – Once you have logged in, you can see the contact information for the school or organization that offers the award. You will have to contact that organization to request the necessary forms, etc. and to see what requirements apply. You then can apply directly to the organization that offers the award.

Clicking on the “Loans 101″ tab will pull up helpful articles on loans, a loan finder, and a lot of information on how to avoid them all together. Among this info is the federal student aid website and various links to register and receive information on grants. The “Find Schools” tab will send you directly to courseadvisor.com. This separate website had me input my information before creating a portfolio of schools that would suit my interests. It then gave me the financial aid available at each school to aid me in my decision. I found this relieving as I had a blunt and honest view of what could or could not be covered financially by an institution.

Finally, there is a “Laptop Search” tap which directs you to a full Ebay search of laptops directly designed to be used by college students at reasonable prices. I do not like the fact that I was sent to Ebay because I would rather buy directly, but since the website seems to have a unified purpose of saving money for college students this selection seems to make sense.

Overall, the full website was quite useful. Although it’s title is not really a direct reflection of it’s content, I believe this website does concisely
