    to meet new regulatory requirements and expanded practice capabilities within the Health Systems Improvement Act, 2007. Changes to the Pharmacy Act, to enable the regulation of pharmacy technicians, will take effect with the passing of the proposed registration regulations.The Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program is one of the registration requirements in the proposed regulation.

    The Bridging Program includes the following four courses. In addition, the bridging requires the students to complete a Structured Practical Training component (SPT) which will be completed in the workplace and managed by OCP. There are no specific prerequisites in the program, and courses can be taken in any sequence. However, participants must have completed the Management of Drug Distribution course, before beginning the Structured Practical Training component that is managed by OCP.
